The Bike Shed was formed and is operated by proprietor Jeff Smith since 1998.
The concept of the store is outside normal retail trading by operating from a rural site from within a 6000sq feet 18th century barn that not only accommodates a massive selection of cycles and accessories, but also a Shimano approved service centre. Once inside you will find cycles from top brands like Gary Fisher, Trek, Lemond, Giant and many more. We stock not only mountain bikes but a wide variety of bikes ranging from road to electric. A wide variety of children's bikes as well as children's trailer bikes are available for the new starter. Still staying with the British manufactures, Pashley and Brompton bikes offer a great range of folding bikes, trikes for adults and juniors. Raleigh cycles are still very prominent too with a wide range of products from cycles to scooters for all ages.
The accessories held in stock are all on display on a seeming endless wall. Nike, Altura and lots of other clothing manufactures for the commuter and the competitive cyclist.
You can try before you buy too using our bike testing area facility to ensure what looks good; rides equally as nice. Or maybe you just want a bike for the day, in which case you can hire from the store. You can hire bikes, trailer bikes and child seats and safety gear is supplied. With route 23 just a stones throw away, family rides along the old railway network are easily accessible from the store.
